All students are requested to participate in the examination conducted by National Institute of Open School, (a central government venture) in every April - May, October - November.
The students who discontinued SSLC/Plus Two due to various reasons can re appear for the examination and complete it successfully within a year of time. Both SSLC and Plus Two courses can be done as correspondence courses. These courses are accredited by the government of all states and there will be no age limit for pursuing this course.
Those who had completed 14 years in age can apply. There is no age limit for this course. There will be 13 subjects including multi languages. Of these, every student can select 5 subjects. 2 languages are compulsory and the other 3 subjects are free to choose. These three exams can be written either in English or in Malayalam.
Students who complete this course successfully are eligible to apply for both state and central government jobs
This course is designed for those who are passed SSLC and completed 17 years in age. There will be 17 subjects for the plus two examination of which the students can choose 2 languages. Except science subjects, main exam can be written either in Malayalam or in English. Students who successfully complete the plus two course are eligible for the Engineering, Medical, IT courses as well other professional courses. All universities across the nation accept our courses. The importance of Plus Two education is increasing as it is considered as the basic requirement for many jobs including PSC and UPSC. Those who complete this course successfully are eligible to apply for both state and central government jobs.
Both SSLC and Plus Two can be done as correspondence courses. It can be done as part time course as well as distant education course. Those who cannot attend regular classes can do home study. After the course registration, the study materials for the five subjects that you selected will reach you through courier or via post. After the registration process, you will get text notification from NIOS before the main exam.
Every student in all batches will be provided with 24 contact classes on respective Sundays. The date of contact class will be informed you earlier.
The students can go for Science, Commerce and Humanities separately. They have to select the subject according to their future career plans. For instance, those who wish to continue their studies in BSc or Medical or Engineering or Nursing field must select Science subjects.
For students who choose Science group in Plus Two will have a 10 day's compulsory contact class. Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects will have practical labs. Those who are doing SSLC and Plus Two correspondence will be provided with required Assignments, Records and Practical works.
Examination fee needs to be paid as DD. Examination fees of those subjects which have Practical exams are not included in the above mentioned fee structure. (Examination fees will be different in abroad countries).

SSLC - Students who are doing correspondence course will have to pay a sum of Rs 5650/- as registration fee. The remaining amount must be paid at the time of examination.
Plus Two (Commerce / Humanities) – Students who are doing correspondence course have to pay a sum of Rs 5650/- as registration fee. The remaining amount must be paid at the time of examination.
Plus Two (Science): Students doing correspondence must pay a sum of Rs 5650/- as Registration fee. The remaining amount must be paid at the time of examination.
The Public Examination (Board Examinations) is held twice in every year which will be in the months of April-May and October-November.
There are examination centers all over Kerala state except Idukki district. You will find the examination centers across Indian as well as in GCC countries. The candidates can choose their preferred examination centers according to their convenience. NIOS will directly distribute the certificates to students through post or AI Centre.

National Institute of Open schooling (NIOS) is an autonomous organization (Central Educational Board) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) of India in 1989 to provide education inexpensively areas.
The Secondary / Senior Secondary certificate which is obtained from NIOS have the same recognition and value as certificates issued by other boards like CBSE and CISCE across India. NIOS is entrusted with the authority to conduct Public Examinations at Secondary and Senior Secondary level consults Govt. Of India's resolution dated 14 September 1990. NIOS thus act as another National Board.
